MultiChoice Kenya will replace its DStv bouquets with four new packages on November 5, 2026, priced from Sh750 to Sh7,300 a month. The company is replacing its six visible packages with four: Starter, Select, Sports and Ultimate. The lineup looks like six products to customers but is built from 33 behind the scenes, and the simplification is part of the first full portfolio review in the company’s 30 years in Kenya. The company framed the plan as a choice between earning more from fewer customers or earning less from more, and said it is choosing the second route.
The tiers are built around what people watch. Starter, at Sh750, offers up to 116 channels, with Maisha Magic channels, LaLiga and a new SuperSport KICKOFF channel showing selected league matches. Select, at Sh1,500, offers up to 149 channels and adds movies, international news, Serie A and more family programming. Sports, at Sh3,000, offers up to 159 channels and combines the Premier League and UEFA’s Champions League, Europa League and Conference League in a single package, along with WWE, UFC and the NBA. Ultimate, at Sh7,300, offers up to 180 channels and adds Formula 1, MotoGP, cricket, rugby, tennis and golf majors to everything below it.
The football bundle removes a common frustration. Viewers who wanted both English and European matches previously had to upgrade, often on match night, and could lose service during the change. The company says that should no longer be necessary. It also placed popular local drama in its cheapest tier to reach more households.
The price positioning is notable. The company says Ultimate is 40 percent cheaper than the current top package, though against the Sh11,700 price the reduction works out to about 38 percent. The company’s parent, Canal+, completed its acquisition of MultiChoice Group in September 2025, and the company describes its approach as a mass-market model that favors reach over restriction.
Existing customers will not be moved immediately. They stay on their current packages and will receive messages from November 5 explaining how to switch. New customers can buy any package from that date, and under the DStv Expect+ campaign the HD decoder and dish cost Sh1,500 with Sh500 for installation. A new Starter subscriber would therefore pay Sh2,750 to begin. DStv Stream will carry the same four packages at the same prices, with two concurrent streams allowed for now.
GOtv will follow a similar structure, with an entry package called Easy at Sh300, plus Starter at Sh750, Select at Sh1,500 and Sports at Sh3,000.
The company identifies piracy as the industry’s biggest threat and argues that satellite TV remains cheaper than the data needed to stream for long hours. Whether lower prices will bring back the viewers who left is the open question, and the first signs will come after November 5.
