Mshindi, who has over 30 years of experience in the media industry, will serve as the KBC chairperson for a period of three years, effective from January 19, 2024.

“I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint— TOM MSHINDI NYAMANCHA to be the Chairperson of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation Board, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 19th January, 2024,” the notice read.

Mshindi is a former editor-in-chief of the Nation Media Group (NMG), where he oversaw the editorial operations of the leading media house in East Africa.

Mshindi is expected to spearhead the transformation of KBC into a modern and competitive public broadcaster that can serve the diverse needs and interests of the Kenyan audience.

Nyachae, who was appointed as the KSG chairperson, is a former judge of the East African Court of Justice and a former commissioner of the Commission on the Implementation of the Constitution. He will serve as the head of the council that oversees the management and administration of KSG, a state corporation that provides training and consultancy services to the public sector.

Nyachae’s appointment will run from January 19, 2024 to July 12, 2025, according to the Gazette notice.

Nyachae is expected to enhance the capacity and performance of KSG, which plays a key role in developing and implementing policies and programmes for the public service.
