As a busy professional, managing your personal finances requires a delicate balance: you need both growth potential and immediate accessibility. When funds are required for unexpected opportunities, emergencies, or simply day-to-day liquidity, having your capital locked away in rigid investment products can be frustrating. The Cytonn Money Market Fund (CMMF) is structured precisely to address this need , offering a low-risk fund that seeks to obtain a high level of current income while simultaneously protecting the investor’s capital and liquidity. The core objective of the fund’s portfolio strategy is clear: to outperform the income yield available on money market call accounts and fixed deposit accounts. This is achieved by investing in interest-bearing securities and other short-term money market instruments. This approach keeps the portfolio managed conservatively, with active management of duration, credit, and liquidity risks, ensuring a bedrock of security for your savings.

The fund’s focus on liquidity and capital preservation translates into significant peace of mind. For those planning their finances, particularly at the start of the month, the CMMF provides an ideal holding ground for funds earmarked for near-term use or those you wish to keep liquid while still earning competitive returns. This high level of liquidity is a result of the fund’s asset allocation strategy. As at September 30, 2025, the fund’s portfolio was highly concentrated in highly liquid and secure assets. Cash, bank deposits, and government securities constituted 75.4% of the portfolio. This strategic composition includes Fixed & Demand Deposits at 62.4% , Government Securities at 11.5% , and Cash at 1.5% , reinforcing its commitment to safety and accessibility. The fund’s stability is further reinforced by its regulatory and operational framework: the Trustee is Goal Advisory , and the Custodian is SBM Bank Kenya Ltd.

Furthermore, the CMMF is exceptionally accessible, which seamlessly aligns with your monthly income cycle. It requires a Minimum Initial Investment of just Kshs. 100. This ease of access means you can begin or top up your investment effortlessly, ensuring your money starts working for you without unnecessary barriers. The fund’s objective is to deliver returns above its benchmark—the Average 91-day T-Bill plus 1.0% points —leveraging optimal asset allocation in line with the Fund’s Investment Policy Statement. For instance, in September 2025, the fund averaged 13.0% p.a.. The fund’s inception date was November 1, 2017 , and its overall performance since inception has averaged 12.2%. This makes it an investment designed not only for competitive growth but for the convenience and financial control required by today’s dynamic professional life, ultimately offering a solid foundation for managing both your daily and long-term financial needs.
