The Safari Rally 2025, scheduled for March 20th-23rd, is shaping up to be a major event for Naivasha’s tourism scene. Drawing over 100,000 spectators each year, including international visitors from Europe and Uganda, the rally is expected to provide a significant boost to local businesses, especially in hospitality.

Hotels like Enashipai Resort and Spa are already reaping the benefits. “The Safari Rally has been a blessing for the hotel industry in Naivasha. It has revitalized our infrastructure and brought global attention to our region,” said Shem Onyara, Chief Engineer at Enashipai. Since its return to the World Rally Championship (WRC) calendar in 2021, the rally has spurred infrastructural developments, such as improved roads and new businesses along Moi South Lake Road.

What sets this rally apart is its blend of thrilling motorsport action and Kenya’s natural beauty. The rugged terrains and unpredictable weather offer a unique experience for spectators. Salim Mvurya, Cabinet Secretary for Youth, Creative Economy & Sports, emphasized, “The Safari Rally attracts international tourists who come to enjoy what Kenya has to offer. It boosts the local economy and showcases our beautiful countryside to millions of viewers globally.”

The rally’s economic impact goes beyond tourism. Small and medium enterprises, including transport providers, eateries, and local vendors, also benefit from the event. June Chepkemei, CEO of the Kenya Tourism Board, noted, “The Safari Rally greatly impacts the economy, from small businesses to the hospitality sector. It allows us to showcase Kenya’s charm to the world.”
