As the festive season approaches, Safaricom, Kenya’s leading mobile network operator, has unveiled an enticing Christmas campaign aimed at enhancing the celebrations for its loyal customers.

In a move that has caught the attention of many, Safaricom announced that borrowers utilizing its Fuliza overdraft facility will have the unique opportunity to settle their outstanding loans using their accumulated Bonga points, a form of loyalty currency.

This initiative, aptly named Sambaza Furaha, seeks to spread joy and happiness among Safaricom users during the holiday period.

Launched recently, the campaign encompasses a range of exciting offers and benefits, showcasing Safaricom’s commitment to giving back to its customers.

One of the standout features of this campaign is the provision for Fuliza borrowers to utilize their Bonga points to clear their loan balances.

This innovative move comes as part of Safaricom’s efforts to extend a helping hand to its customers, allowing them to leverage their loyalty points accumulated over time to ease their financial burden during the festive season.

It’s noteworthy that Safaricom’s Bonga points, initially introduced as a loyalty program for customers, experienced a significant decline in their accumulated value following the introduction of an expiration date.

The telco witnessed a 34.2% drop in the value of unredeemed loyalty points, signaling increased redemption rates by customers.

This shift in dynamics prompted Safaricom to introduce a series of attractive offers under the Sambaza Furaha campaign, aiming to encourage the use and redemption of Bonga points.

The redemption options for Bonga points have been expanded, offering customers a diverse array of choices.

The redemption ratio for voice and data needs has been set at a 1:1 ratio during this promotional period, allowing customers to get more value for their points compared to the previous conversion structure.

This means that customers can now redeem their points for voice minutes or data bundles at an equal point-to-value ratio, enhancing personalization and rewards for Safaricom users.

Furthermore, the Sambaza Furaha campaign encompasses various other exciting offers.

Customers will have the opportunity to purchase locally assembled Neon smartphones using a combination of Bonga points and cash.

Additionally, home internet users can benefit from significantly discounted prices on 4G Wi-Fi routers, making connectivity more accessible during this festive period.

Moreover, the campaign extends discounts and rebates on various services and products, including local flights, SGR train tickets, bus vouchers, and accommodations at selected hotels. Discounts ranging from 20.0% to 40.0% are available for customers using M-Pesa mini-apps and MySafaricom app payments, making travel and accommodation more affordable for Safaricom users.

Peter Ndegwa, CEO of Safaricom, expressed the company’s intentions behind the Sambaza Furaha campaign.

He highlighted the essence of spreading joy, kindness, and the spirit of sharing within the community.

Ndegwa emphasized that the campaign aimed not only to offer incredible deals but also to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Safaricom’s valued customers. As the festive season unfolds,

Safaricom’s Sambaza Furaha campaign stands as a testament to the company’s dedication to its customers’ well-being and happiness.

By allowing Fuliza borrowers to clear their loans using Bonga points and introducing a host of exciting offers, Safaricom continues to solidify its position as a customer-centric telecommunications giant, bringing delight and cheer to households across Kenya during this celebratory time.
