Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) booked their place in the 2025 UEFA Champions League final after a 2-1 victory over Arsenal in the semi-final second leg on May 7 at the Parc des Princes. With this result, PSG advanced 3-1 on aggregate and are set to face Inter Milan in the final on May 31 in Munich.
Arsenal came into the match trailing 1-0 from the first leg and started with intensity, creating early chances through Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard. However, PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma continued his heroic form, denying the Gunners with several crucial saves that kept the aggregate lead intact.
PSG took the lead in the 30th minute through midfielder Fabián Ruiz, whose long-range effort deflected off an Arsenal defender and left goalkeeper David Raya wrong-footed. The goal shifted the momentum firmly in PSG’s favor. After the break, Achraf Hakimi finished off a clinical counterattack in the 52nd minute to extend PSG’s advantage to 3-0 on aggregate.
Despite the setback, Arsenal showed resilience and continued to attack. Bukayo Saka gave the visitors a lifeline in the 77th minute with a well-placed finish from the edge of the box. However, it was too little too late, as PSG’s defense held firm in the closing stages.
PSG’s qualification marks a significant achievement under manager Luis Enrique, who has rebuilt the squad following the departure of Kylian Mbappé in 2024. With a more balanced and tactically disciplined team, PSG now look poised to chase their first-ever Champions League title.
While Arsenal’s European journey ends in disappointment, their progress this season confirms their return to Europe’s elite. PSG, meanwhile, will now prepare for a showdown with Inter Milan in what promises to be a thrilling final at the Allianz Arena.
