Maribe, Jowie to know verdict on murder case tomorrow

The High Court has rescheduled the judgment date for the former TV news anchor Jacque Maribe and Jowie Irungu concerning the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani.

Initially set for March 15, the judgment has been moved up to February 9 with the consent of all involved parties.

This rescheduling comes after two prior adjournments, the most recent attributed to Maribe’s advocate Katwa Kigen citing her illness.

Jowie Irungu is the primary accused in Monica’s murder trial, a case in which he was charged alongside Jacque Maribe in 2018.

Monica Kimani’s body was discovered at her Lamuria Gardens Apartment, situated on Kitale Lane off Denis Pritt Road in Kilimani.

During the trial, the prosecution presented 35 witnesses who testified against the accused.

Despite their denial of any acquaintance with Monica or involvement in her demise, Assistant DPP Gikui Gichuki asserted that the evidence presented in court is substantial for a conviction.
