The cabinet secretary for public service, Moses Kuria, appeared to be disappointed that he was not included on the list of recipients of national honors during the 60th Jamhuri Day celebrations. Kuria implied that he believed that this was due to interference from Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua.
Kuria’s response followed President William Ruto’s awarding of the highest state honor in Kenya, the Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (E.G.H.), to nine Cabinet Secretaries.
Kuria posted a picture of a gazette notice highlighting the state awardees alongside another image that showed how the Office of the Deputy President was involved in choosing who would receive national honors in a statement on Tuesday.
“We shall be there no matter what,” Kuria captioned the two photographs.
The Office of the DP Gachagua is in charge of the National and County Government Honors Advisory Committee.
