The US embassy in Nairobi has announced a KSh1.2 billion cash reward for any leads on three runaway AL-Shabaab terrorism suspects.
The three suspected militants were identified as Mahad Karate, Jehad Mostafa, and Ahmed Diriye by the Embassy in a notice on Monday, November 14, 2022.
“To our Kenyan and regional partners, the United States is offering reward money for information that will lead to the identification and disruption of Al-Shabaab’s revenue sources and funding.”
The statement clarified that the terrorists were behind a number of deadly acts that took place in Kenya and its neighboring countries.
“These Key leaders of Al-Shabaab are responsible for numerous terrorist attacks in Somalia, Kenya, and neighboring countries that have killed thousands of people.”
The Embassy emphasized that the commanders’ arrests would reduce the frequency of attacks in the area and obstruct the finance and facilitation networks that the militia group relied on to survive.
“Al Shabaab relies on financing and facilitation networks to sustain its operations and plan terrorist attacks, if you have information about Al-Shabaab’s illicit financial activities, submit a top via Signal, Telegram, or WhatsApp to one of the numbers listed,” read part of the statement.
