Facebook, Instagram experience downtime for some users

Meta Platforms-owned Facebook and Instagram experienced widespread outages on Tuesday, affecting hundreds of thousands of users globally According to Downdetector.com.

Facebook users experienced automatic logout from their accounts, with unsuccessful attempts to log back in. Efforts to regain access were accompanied by security breach warnings.

“Warning! You are engaging in behavior that may be considered annoying or abusive by other users,” the warning message stated.

The glitch which is also on Instagram has resulted in significant disruptions to the platform’s functionality. Users have reported difficulties in refreshing their feeds, with the content remaining stagnant despite attempts to update.

Additionally, the comment sections on posts have become inactive, preventing users from engaging with content through comments.

Individuals endeavoring to post comments on various posts have been greeted with a message indicating that their comment will be added once they are reconnected.

The disruptions began around 6:00 pm, with over 300,000 reports of Facebook outages and approximately 40,000 reports for Instagram.

Meta spokesperson Andy Stone acknowledged the issue, stating, “We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now,” via a post on social media platform X.

Additionally, Meta’s status dashboard indicated issues with the WhatsApp Business application programming interface, with around 200 reports of outages on Downdetector.

The outage became one of the top trending topics on X, formerly known as Twitter, with numerous users reporting sudden logouts from Meta-owned social media platforms.
