In recent years, Eastleigh has experienced substantial business growth, transforming from a quiet residential area in Nairobi’s Eastlands into a bustling commercial hub. This transition signifies optimism for Nairobi’s potential expansion.

Formerly characterized by poor infrastructure and insecurity, Eastleigh faced issues such as political and social injustices, crime, violence, riots, and police brutality. Despite these challenges, it has emerged as a thriving business center.

The influx of various businesses, including hotels, clothing malls, shopping malls, banks, and forex bureaus, has played a crucial role in revitalizing Eastleigh. Notably, the recent opening of Business Bay Mall (BBM), anticipated to become Kenya’s largest shopping complex with over 2000 retail stores, exemplifies this growth. It reflects the community’s creativity in reclaiming their urban landscape.

Eastleigh’s revival has a positive impact on the entire city of Nairobi, attracting investors and entrepreneurs. It is estimated that Eastleigh hosts investments valued at billions of shillings and contributes around 30.0 percent of the taxes collected by Nairobi County.
