The Communications Authority of Kenya has suspended Director General Ezra Chiloba and appointed Christopher Wambua as acting director general, according to an internal memo issued Monday.
The memo from CAK Chairperson Mary Mungai informed all staff that the authority’s board made the decision during a meeting earlier in the day. She directed staff to provide Wambua with “necessary support” but did not give a reason for Chiloba’s suspension.

“Following a meeting of the Authority’s Board held on 18. September 2023, resulting in the suspension of the Director General, I am pleased to inform all staff of the appointment of Mr. Christopher Wambua as a Director General in Acting Capacity effective today until fluffier notice,” Mungai wrote.
Principal Secretary Edward Kisiang’ani said in a live interview that the ministry is yet to receive a briefing from CAK on the reason for Chiloba’s suspension, so the cause remains unknown.
