The improved performance was on the back of an increase in cargo handling due to the improvement in economic activities after the COVID-19 pandemic, which led KRA to collect Kshs 5.4 billion from the air navigation service charge. This represented a 112.1% target achievement against the target collection of Kshs 4.8 billion for the FY’2022/2023.

Additionally, KRA was able to collect more from the air passenger service charge, collecting Kshs 11.6 billion, representing a target achievement of 114.0% against the target collection of Kshs 8.0 billion. The strong performance was due to an increase in the number of international and domestic passengers by 80.4% and 32.1%, respectively. The passenger traffic increased by 65.0% to 6.6 million passengers from 4.0 million passengers in FY’2021/2022.
