Air France KLM launches Africa Headquarters in Nairobi

Air France announced the opening of its new Africa headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. The newly established regional hub comprises seven key markets: Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Djibouti, Nigeria, Uganda, and South Africa. The latest additions to the Air France-KLM network are South Africa, Nigeria, and Ghana. The head of the African Region will be Mr. Marius van der Ham, who will serve as the General Manager.

The African headquarters shall provide a variety of services, such as ticketing, sales, and customer support. By bolstering its presence on the ground, Air France-KLM says it targets meeting the surging demand for air travel in East and Southern Africa as well as West African countries like Nigeria and Ghana. Air France already operates flights to various destinations within East Africa, such as Nairobi and Dar es Salaam.

Mr Van der Ham said that Air France KLM has already increased capacity on its Nairobi-Europe flights by approximately 14% in 2023. It operates twice a day from Nairobi to Amsterdam and Paris, up from a daily flight to Amsterdam and five weekly flights to Paris before the COVID-19 pandemic. The carrier is also adding three flights on its France-South Africa route to cater for higher demand during the onset of the summer travel season.
