Microsoft, Education Ministry Partner To Enhance Digital Learning

Education, Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, has stated that the government will expand its collaboration with Microsoft to integrate digital technology into the education system.

Speaking at Jogoo ‘B’ offices yesterday he noted that the Ministry will outline all areas of engagement with Microsoft in order to create an unrestricted digital space for young people.

“The government wants to establish internet connectivity in counties, sub-counties, and eventually all over the country in order to open space for online jobs for our youth” the CS stated.

According to the CS, the Education Ministry will keep working with tech companies to establish the Kenya Open University, which will soon be announced, as well as technical and vocational training, E-assessments, and virtual laboratories for grade 7 students.

Microsoft’s Corporate Director for Education in Africa, Ms. Angela Ng’ang’a, stated during the meetup that the company has numerous avenues for partnership with the Ministry of Education.

She mentioned the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC), and Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) as some of the beneficiaries of the partnership and claimed they had successfully collaborated with a number of organizations under the Ministry of Education in areas of digitization and automation.
