Hotel Giant Hilton has announced plans to open a new hotel in the country dubbed “Kwetu Nairobi, Curio Collection by Hilton” in February next year.

This comes a month after the historic Hilton Hotel in Nairobi’s city center announced its indefinite closure set for December 31 this year after more than 50 years of operations.

“Please note that as of midnight on 31 December 2022, Hilton Nairobi will cease to operate as a Hilton hotel. As a result, stays booked past this date will not accrue Honors points. Please contact the hotel directly with questions,” read the announcement.

The 102-room “Kwetu Nairobi, Curio Collection by Hilton” hotel is situated on Peponi Road in the Kitisuru neighborhood of Nairobi with a view of Karura Forest.

The hotel’s specialty restaurant, which features a seasonal concept menu and a rooftop bar with breathtaking views of the surrounding forested landscape, offers guests a contemporary African experience.

The Five-Star hotel opened its doors in Nairobi on December 7, 1969, after being inaugurated by then-President Jomo Kenyatta. It has proven to be popular with high-end clients such as diplomats, government officials, and wealthy members of society, who traveled to Nairobi for conferences.

The five-star hotel with 287 rooms includes 45 twin rooms, 185 double rooms, 22 pool rooms, 27 executive rooms, and 7 suite services.
