Overwhelmed MP Cries During Vetting of Interior CS

Samburu West Member of Parliament Lesuuda Naisula wept in parliament after being overwhelmed by emotions while addressing Interior Cabinet Secretary nominee Professor Kithure Kindiki during vetting.

Lesuuda, who hails from the notorious North Region, decried what she termed laxity and carelessness of the government in tackling insecurity in the area.

“The only time we act surprised or shocked as a country is when we lose our security personnel or only when we lose two or three lives. When will one life be too many to lose in the Northern parts of this country? It should never be lost to us that at one point, we lost over 42 officers and the only thing we have to show in Baragoi is a monument with the name of these fallen heroes,” said a tearful Lesuuda.

Lessuuda further said that a case of cattle rustling was reported the morning to vetting of Kindiki, with one of her staff members reported missing.

She protested that every person in the region was tired, including herself, to the extent of extending an invitation to the CS nominee to live in the area for at least a week and experience the untold suffering of the people of North.

“I am tired. I am honestly tired and Kenyans are tired. What do you intend to do differently from your predecessors way from the usual rhetorics and threats? Perhaps you need to come and live Kurkur, Pura, Longewen and Lusuk in incognito for only one week. Come and stay there.” she said.

In response, Kindiki promised to tackle the insecurity menace in the region using all methods possible, including air and land defense mechanisms to smoke out bandits who hide in caves.

“As soon as I take office, my first assignment will be to ensure that we set free this country from criminals, bandits, terrorists, and cattle rustlers. I will remain focused until this problem is over, even if it means going to live in the North Rift,” said Kindiki.

“What discussion are you going to have with a criminal who has stolen 100 cows from an innocent person and he is hiding in a gorge? You flatten the gorge,”
