The government has announced that members of the public can now own affordable housing units in Bondeni, Nakuru.

In a public notice published in the local dailies, the State Department for Housing and Urban Development invited interested individuals to purchase ready units at the Bondeni affordable housing project.

The government has constructed 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom units measuring 64 sqm and 85 sqm respectively. The 2-bedroom units will retail at KES 3.15 million while the 3-bedroom units will go for KES 4.25 million.

Interested buyers have been urged to visit the Bondeni site to view the housing units before applying to purchase them through the Boma Yangu portal at www.bomayangu.go.ke.

To qualify for purchase, applicants will be required to pay a 10% deposit upfront. Qualified purchasers will then be offered rent-to-own home loans by the government at monthly rates of KES 16,997 for the 2-bedroom units and KES 22,933 for the 3-bedroom units.

The affordable housing project is part of the Kenya Kwanza government’s agenda that aims to provide decent and affordable housing to Kenyans. The houses target low and middle income citizens who struggle to own homes due to the high cost of mortgage financing.
