Safaricom has given cash back to some of its M-PESA customers who faced service disruption on Tuesday.

M-PESA is a mobile money transfer service that allows users to send and receive money, pay bills, and access other financial services through their phones.

On Tuesday, some M-PESA customers reported difficulties in completing their transactions, such as delays, errors, or failed payments.

Safaricom acknowledged the issue and said it was working to restore the service as soon as possible.

On Thursday, some of the affected customers received a message from Safaricom saying: “Thank you for your patience as we fixed the M-PESA service interruption recently. Please enjoy some cash back as a token of our gratitude. We appreciate you.”

The message was followed by a cash back offer in different amounts depending on the transaction with a good number of users suggesting that this wa 10% of the amount they tried to transact.

Some customers expressed their surprise and appreciation on social media, while others wondered why they had not received the offer.

Safaricom responded by saying: “This applies to customers who were affected by the M-PESA outage on Tuesday while transacting.”

Safaricom has not disclosed how many customers were affected by the outage or how much money it has given back.

The company has more than 30 million customers in Kenya, and M-PESA accounts for about a third of its revenue.
