The 2025 Safari Rally is set to captivate motorsport fans with the introduction of new stages and innovative enhancements aimed at enriching both participant and spectator experiences. CEO Charles Gacheru announced the addition of two fresh stages during a course tour in Naivasha. The new stages include a 5km shakedown at Camp Moran and an 8km race at Morendat Farm, designed to increase the thrill of the competition.
Scheduled from March 20 to 23, the rally will span Nairobi and Naivasha counties. President William Ruto will flag off the event at City Hall Way, a new location replacing the traditional spot at Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC). “We want spectators to see, hear, and get into the rally,” Gacheru said, emphasizing the importance of accessibility for fans.
The opening leg will feature the Kasarani twin track, followed by the Mzabibu stage at Morendat Farm, named after a vineyard in Naivasha. Competitors will also face stages at Camp Moran, Loldia, Geothermal, and a revised Kedong stage, which has been shortened to 17 km but retains its iconic Miti Mbili jump. Day Three includes stages at Sleeping Warrior, Elementaita, and Soysambu, with the rally concluding at Hell’s Gate National Park.
Incorporating advanced technology, organizers have introduced “Eventhos,” a management program to track safety and resources in real-time, improving coordination during the event. Event Director Norris Ongalo highlighted that the program will ensure smooth operations throughout the rally.
Furthermore, negotiations are underway with WRC TV for free broadcasts to expand fan access to the event. Gacheru aims to bring the excitement of the Safari Rally closer to a wider audience.
The economic impact of the rally is also significant, with Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya noting Kenya’s top position in global WRC viewership. The event not only boosts tourism but also creates job opportunities for local youth, ensuring that economic benefits reach the surrounding communities.
