The National Police Service (NPS) has expressed deep concern over allegations that police officers interfered with journalists in the line of duty during an incident in Nakuru.

In a press statement issued on April 10, 2025, NPS acknowledged the reports circulating on both social and mainstream media, noting that such attacks are criminal and violate journalists’ rights under the Constitution and the Media Council Act, 2013.

“NPS wishes to emphasise that any unprofessional conduct by police officers including obstruction, intimidation, harassment, or interference with journalists performing their duties will not be tolerated,” said NPS Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga.

The Service has launched investigations into the matter, describing it as an unfortunate and isolated incident. “Decisive action will be taken against any officer found to have engaged in any misconduct,” the statement reads.
