Nairobi Hospital dismisses strike claims, assures public of smooth operations

Nairobi Hospital has moved swiftly to reassure the public, partners, and stakeholders that its operations remain unaffected, despite circulating reports of an impending doctors’ strike. In a Facebook post shared this morning, the hospital refuted claims that its medical staff is planning to down tools, urging everyone to disregard these reports.

The hospital’s statement follows a press release issued by a section of the Kenya Hospital Association (KHA) and the Admitting Staff Association (ASA), which indicated plans for doctors to strike in protest of governance issues at the hospital. The press statement, dated September 16, called for the resignation of the current hospital management and announced that doctors would cease admitting new patients by midnight on September 18, should their demands go unmet.

However, Nairobi Hospital’s official response downplayed these concerns, stating, “We urge our partners and stakeholders to ignore reports going round in sections of the media about an impending strike by our doctors. We are grateful for your support.”

The hospital also reiterated its commitment to ensuring continuous care, emphasizing that all healthcare services are operating smoothly. “Our operations are going on without disruption, and we remain dedicated to providing the highest standard of care to our patients,” the hospital assured.

The contrasting reports have left some uncertainty about future developments, but Nairobi Hospital remains firm in its stance that service delivery will not be interrupted. The hospital concluded its statement by expressing gratitude for the ongoing support from its partners and the public.

Despite the KHA’s call for an Extraordinary General Meeting to address their concerns, Nairobi Hospital maintains that all services will continue as usual.
