Motorists in Nairobi should expect traffic disruptions Sunday due to the Annual Gertrude’s Family Cancer Walk, authorities said.

Roads affected from 7 a.m. to noon include Southern Bypass, Lang’ata Road, Aerodrome Road, Bunyala Road, Lower Hill Road, Elgon Road, Hospital Road, Upper Hill Links Road and Mbagathi Way, according to a notice published in local newspapers.

Drivers were advised to use alternative routes to avoid delays caused by the charity walk aimed at raising funds for childhood cancer treatment.

Traffic police will be deployed along the routes to maintain order.

Separately, the Kenya Urban Roads Authority warned of potential heavy traffic along James Gichuru Road from Thursday night through Sunday due to routine road maintenance.

“We wish to notify the general public that there will be traffic disruption along James Gichuru Road from March 14, 2024, to March 17, 2024, during night hours,” KURA said, urging motorists to use alternate routes
