Kenyan health facility Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) has released a 7-day notification urging the retrieval of numerous unclaimed bodies, including 541 children. Among the 66 adult bodies housed in the KNH mortuary, 20 remain unidentified, contributing to a total of 607 uncollected bodies.

As per a statement from the hospital, once the stipulated notice period elapses, they will pursue legal authorization from the courts to dispose of these bodies located in their mortuary.

Quoting the statement, “Pursuant to Public Health Act Cap 242 [Subsidiary: PUBLIC HEALTH (PUBLIC MORTUARIES) RULES, 19911 (2), interested members of the public are therefore requested to identify and collect the bodies within 7 days.”

Further details from the KNH farewell disposal list indicate the presence of three sets of twins and one set of quadruplets among the unclaimed bodies.
