The Government of Kenya has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of its citizens residing in Lebanon amidst an escalating crisis.
The State Department for Diaspora Affairs revealed that a significant number of Kenyans have yet to register for evacuation, despite repeated calls for action.
“We are deeply concerned that a large number of Kenyans in Lebanon have not yet registered for evacuation despite our repeated calls,” the ministry stated.
The government has successfully evacuated two groups of nationals from Lebanon and is determined to continue these efforts until every citizen in need is safely returned home. “We are committed to continuing these efforts until every Kenyan in need is safely home,” the statement emphasized.
The deadline for registration is set for October 12, 2024. The government has urged all individuals wishing to be evacuated to ensure their registration is completed before this critical date. Citizens can register through a designated online portal or contact the government via provided communication numbers for further assistance.
The government is actively collaborating with international partners and local authorities to secure safe evacuation routes, underscoring its commitment to the well-being of its diaspora. “The Government of Kenya continues to work diligently with international partners and local authorities to secure safe evacuation routes and ensure the well-being of our diaspora,” the statement concluded.
