Kenya Railways suspends commuter services on five routes

Kenya Railways has on Wednesday announced the suspension of Nairobi Commuter Rail Services to Ruiru, Embakasi village, Limuru, Lukenya and Syokimau.

According to a press statement seen by Sharp Daily, the suspension will take effect from Thursday, December 21, this year to January 2, 2024.

“We wish to inform customers that the Nairobi Commuter Rail Services to Ruiru, Embakasi Village, Limuru, Lukenya, and Syokimau will be suspended from December 21, 2023, until January 2, 2024,” the statement read in part.

Kenya Railways did not explain the reason for the suspension of commuter rail services.

The management also stated areas where services will continue as usual. The areas include the Link train operating between Nairobi Central Railway station and Nairobi Terminus, which serves Madaraka Express Passenger Service customers.

The Nanyuki Safari Train, the Kisumu Safari Train, the Suswa Leisure Train, and the Madaraka Express Passenger Service Train will also carry out their operations as usual.
