Kenya and Angola are set to advocate for the revival of direct flights connecting Nairobi and Luanda, in a joint effort to bolster bilateral trade.
This initiative was announced by Kenyan President William Ruto during a meeting with his Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço. President Ruto emphasized the positive trajectory of Kenya-Angola trade over the past four years while acknowledging the untapped potential that exists between the two nations.

He stated, “There is a huge scope for these numbers to go up if we strengthen our interconnection.” Through re-establishing direct flights, the two nations aim to facilitate easier and more efficient travel between their capitals, ultimately enhancing trade relations.
President Ruto also announced visa free travel for Angolans coming to Kenya with Angola considering the same arrangement on their side.
During the meeting at state house the two presidents signed 11 legal instruments, covering a wide range of sectors. These legal agreements encompassed wildlife and conservation, shipping and maritime affairs, mining, youth affairs, forestry, agriculture, information and communication technology, oil and gas, health, diplomacy, and public service.
President Lourenço expressed optimism about the significance of these legal instruments, stating, “This will usher in a new era of our common prosperity.”
Kenya also pledged its support for Angola’s candidacy for membership in the African Union Peace and Security Council.
