The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has released a list of 41 candidates shortlisted for positions as Court of Appeal judges, marking both notable inclusions and exclusions from the pool of 82 applicants.

This shortlisting follows the announcement by the JSC on February 2, 2024, of vacancies for 11 Court of Appeal judges, who will serve until reaching the statutory retirement age of either 65 years (for early retirees) or 70 years as per legal regulations.

Among those granted approval are former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairperson Issack Hassan and attorney Katwa Kigen.

The 41-member shortlist also features prominent figures such as Justices Chacha Mwita, Anthony Mrima, and Lady Justice Grace Nzioka.
