President William Ruto has delegated his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, new tasks in the recent government reorganization. Ruto designated Gachagua to be in charge of the nation’s coffee sector improvements in Executive Order No. 1 of 2023.

The DP will now monitor the implementation of changes in the coffee sub-sector, a responsibility that previously belonged to the President’s office.

On Sunday, January 8, 2023, he formally registered as a farmer in the latest registration drive launched by President Ruto’s government.

“In line with H.E. President William Ruto’s directive for the FSP Household Farmer Registration, today at my Farm in Wamunyoro Village, Mathira West Subcounty, I was registered as an individual farmer by Assistant Chief David Mwangi of Sagana Sub-Location.” he wrote on Twitter.

The president also gave Gachagua’s office control over Devolution, making the Deputy president the key point of focus in the coordination of the 47 counties.

Gachagua will work with Constitutional Commissions and Independent Offices on issues requiring National Government participation, such as budgets, policy formulation, and implementation of their recommendations.
