The Kenya National Highway Authority has announced the closure of five Uhuru Highway roundabouts from December 28 to January 1, 2024.

The roundabouts set for closure include Nyayo Stadium, Bunyala, Haile Selassie Avenue, Kenyatta Avenue, and University Way.

KeNHA says the closure facilitates essential highway maintenance works along the specified sections.

In a statement seen by Sharp Daily, the authority’s Director General, Eng. Kung’u Ndung’u, has further urged motorists to be cautious when approaching these roads.

“Approach these affected sections with caution, as some lanes will be closed and traffic will be subjected to sharing lanes. Follow the traffic signs and guidance in place as directed by traffic marshals and police on site,” he said.

This follows KeNHA’s announcement on Wednesday that a portion of the Nairobi Southern Bypass between Lang’ata Interchange and Ngong Interchange would be temporarily closed until January 23, 2024.

“The closure of the Southern Bypass is to allow for the construction and installation of a virtual weighbridge along the route,” KeNHA said.

The authority further stated that in order to minimize traffic disruption, the closure will involve one lane of each carriageway at a time.
