First Lady Rachel Ruto has provided essential aid to 203 families, comprising 1,131 individuals, who have been adversely impacted by flooding in Thika West, Kiambu County.

Addressing the recipients at St. Johns Kilimambogo Teachers Training College, Mrs. Ruto assured them of the government’s unwavering support in agricultural initiatives aimed at bolstering food production. This commitment aligns with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda’s overarching goal of ensuring national food security.

Emphasizing solidarity in times of adversity, Mrs. Ruto conveyed, “True friends are those who stand by you in times of trouble; hence, the collective presence here is not merely due to governmental obligation… I want to reassure all Thika residents that every individual will receive their share of assistance.”

Acknowledging the widespread impact of flooding beyond Thika, she expressed gratitude for the rainfall while recalling the severe drought experienced in 2022 and 2023, which led to substantial agricultural and livestock losses.
