Estates in Nairobi to go without water this week

Residents in a section of Nairobi are bracing for water shortages scheduled between Wednesday and Thursday this week. According to a notice released on Monday by the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company, there will be a temporary shutdown of the water pipeline from Gigiri Reservoir to Karura Reservoir-Outer Ring Road. The interruption is slated to occur on Wednesday, February 14, starting at 6 a.m. and will continue until Thursday, February 15, at 6 a.m.

“This action is necessary to facilitate the relocation of the water pipeline, which is currently in conflict with the ongoing office construction at the United Nations Offices in Gigiri,”the statement read in part.

The forthcoming shutdown will result in the suspension of water services in several regions, including but not limited to the UN Complex, Ridgeways, Muthaiga North, Balozi, Garden Estate, Windsor, Mathare North, Garden City, GSU headquarters, and East Africa Breweries (EABL), Ngumba, and Babadogo estates.

Additionally, estates situated along Outering Road, Huruma, Umoja 1, Dandora area 1, Donholm, Tassia, Fedha, Nyayo Embakasi, Kware, and sections of Pipeline Estate will also experience disruptions.
