The ruling United Democratic Alliance has nominated Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire as its interim Chairperson. She succeeds Johnson Muthama, a former Machakos senator who resigned to join the Parliamentary Commission.
Cleophas Malala, former Kakamega Senator, has been named the acting Secretary-General, as revealed by the Party’s spokesman Wanjohi Githae. He succeeds nominated Senator Veronica Maina.
Malala was recently shortlisted for the position of Chief Administrative Secretary and was scheduled to be interviewed by the Public Service Commission. He will take over from former Ainabkoi MP Samuel Chepkong’a, who left his post to run for reelection last year.

“I want to thank my party leader for recognizing my capabilities. I take over a party that has a very strong foundation, young but the biggest in Kenya. I thank my former party leader Mudavadi for his mentorship that has led to me being identified by this party (UDA),” Malala stated in his acceptance speech.
Prior to its grassroots and party leadership elections, the party is anticipated to start a month-long membership registration drive on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, to run until April 30, 2023.
Other Appointments Include;
Kipruto Arap Kirwa has been replaced as vice chairman by EALA MP Omar Hassan, while Omingo Magara has been replaced as treasurer by Kitutu Chache North MP Japheth Nyakundi.
In addition, Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka has been appointed Party Organising Secretary, succeeding Karisa Nzai.
