Besieged Vice Chair of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Juliana Cherera has resigned from office.
Her resignation comes days after she and 3 other commissioners were suspended from office by President William Ruto on Friday last week upon recommendations by the National Assembly.
President Ruto Friday gazetted a tribunal to probe Cherera and commissioners Justus Nyang’aya, Francis Wanderi and Irine Masit over mishandling the August 9th presidential election.
Justus Nyang’aya resigned on Friday after the gazettement of the tribunal in a letter written to President Ruto.
“It is with a heavy heart that I tender my resignation as a commissioner of the IEBC effective today.” wrote Nyang’aya.
