In a pulsating El Clásico on May 11, 2025, FC Barcelona overcame Real Madrid 4–3 at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, propelling themselves to the brink of the La Liga title.

The match began with a swift surge from Real Madrid. Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring with a penalty in the 3rd minute, followed by a clinical finish in the 14th, putting Madrid 2–0 ahead. However, Barcelona responded emphatically. Eric García initiated the comeback with a header from a corner, and Lamine Yamal leveled the score with a powerful strike from the edge of the box. Raphinha then capitalized on defensive errors to net twice, giving Barcelona a commanding 4–2 lead before halftime.

The second half saw a spirited effort from Madrid. Mbappé completed his hat-trick in the 77th minute, reducing the deficit to 4–3. Despite several close calls, including a disallowed goal for offside and a potential penalty for Barcelona denied by VAR, the hosts held firm to secure the victory .

This win marks Barcelona’s fourth El Clásico triumph over Madrid this season, having previously secured victories in the Spanish Super Cup, Copa del Rey, and now inching closer to the La Liga title. Under coach Hansi Flick, Barcelona’s youthful squad has demonstrated resilience and attacking prowess, with standout performances from Yamal and Raphinha. The team’s cohesion and strategic play have been pivotal in their success this season
