The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has reiterated its commitment to addressing abduction cases across the country, following concerns raised by Cabinet Secretary Justin Bedan Muturi on delays in resolving such cases.

In a press statement dated January 12, 2025, the DCI emphasized that “most of the abduction cases that were reported to the Police have been successfully investigated and are now pending before court.” The agency assured that ongoing cases will receive the same level of attention.

Addressing the recent alleged abduction involving CS Justin Muturi’s son, the statement clarified that investigations remain active under DCI Kilimani. The department confirmed it is awaiting a formal statement from the CS and other individuals with relevant information.

The statement further highlighted that several inquiry files are at “various stages of investigations,” and these will soon be forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for legal action.

John K. Marete, Director of the DCI, called for public cooperation, urging anyone with information to come forward. “We continue to appeal for support from members of the public, who may be having any information that can assist in our investigations, to share the same with us in confidence,” Marete stated.

This reassurance comes amid public scrutiny regarding the handling of abduction cases. The DCI underlined its dedication to transparency, noting that all reported incidents are thoroughly investigated.
