The Kenya Women in Insurance Association has been launched.  The Association aims to create a platform to promote the representation of women in the insurance industry through education, mentorship, and collaboration.

Statistics show that the number of women leaders in the insurance industry remains low, especially in the more senior levels and C-suite. While speaking at the launch of the event AKI’s Executive Director, Mr. Tom Gichuhi noted that, “A decade ago we only had one women insurance company CEO. Today, we have 11 women heading insurance companies”. He further noted that it was still not an ideal situation and that there is room for more women at the table and he urged women to go out and stake their claim.

The Insurance Regulator Authority Commissioner, Mr Godfrey Kiptum, assured the association of support from IRA. He noted that women and men working together as partners makes for better organisations and better society “Its not competition, it is partnership, and this will take this industry to the next level”.
