At its much anticipated September event, Apple unveiled its latest iterations of the iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods. The new devices reflect Apple’s continued focus on performance, display quality, computational photography, and environmentally sustainable design.

iPhone 15 and 15 Plus

The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus feature durable new back glass in 5 colors like pink, blue and black. They incorporate the “Dynamic Island”, an innovative front-facing camera cutout that dynamically adapts to alerts, notifications and activities.

Powered by the A16 Bionic chip, the iPhone 15 models also tout a 48MP main camera, 2x telephoto lens, improved low-light photography and 4K video recording. Apple emphasized new safety capabilities like crash detection, which can automatically dial emergency services after a severe car crash.

Perhaps most notably, the iPhones ditch the Lightning port for a more universally compatible USB-C connector that enables faster charging. They also add satellite connectivity for sending emergency texts in remote areas.

iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max

The higher-end iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max push the boundaries even further for Apple’s smartphone lineup. The Pro models feature an upgraded 48MP camera system with a 24MP default mode for incredibly detailed photos. They also incorporate Apple’s new Action button for quick access to common tasks.

Apple focused on the Always-On display enabled by the A17 Bionic chip, which allows the screen to stay visible for notifications, widgets and activities while still preserving battery life. For performance, Apple touted the A17’s abilities for gaming, graphics and neural processing.

The Pro lineup adds some unique features like the ability to record spatial video, as well as satellite emergency calling and texting in more countries around the world. They also provide Precision Finding to locate other Apple devices using Ultra Wideband technology.

Apple Watch Ultra and Series 9

For the Apple Watch, Apple introduced the rugged, adventure-focused Ultra model which now boasts an even brighter display, on-device Siri capabilities, better compass and maps apps, and extended battery life during workouts.

The more mainstream Series 9 watch gains new features like a double tap gesture, temperature sensors, brighter always-on screen and deeper HomePod integration. watchOS 10 brings redesigned apps, new watch faces and enhanced health tracking.

Apple highlighted that select models represent their first ever carbon neutral products, helping in their environmental efforts. Both the Ultra and Series 9 lines also now use 100% recycled aluminum.

AirPods Pro 2

The new AirPods Pro 2 represent the next generation of Apple’s popular wireless earbuds. They add USB-C charging, up to 2x more noise cancellation, and iOS 17 features like adaptive audio that dynamically blends transparency and cancellation modes. Apple focused on lossless audio support for the ultimate sound quality experience.

Pricing

The new products are available for pre-order beginning Friday September 15th, and will be in stores on September 22nd. Pricing starts at $799 for iPhone 15, $999 for iPhone 15 Pro, $799 for Apple Watch Ultra and $249 for AirPods Pro 2.
