American-based ride-hailing platform InDrive has been licensed by the Kenyan Government to offer ride-hailing services in Kenya. The California-based company says it has complied with all regulatory standards in the country. InDrive’s business representative in Kenya stated that with the official license to operate in Kenya, the company is expected to contribute to the local transport ecosystem by providing safe, reliable, and affordable mobility solutions to the citizens of Kenya.

The company also looks forward to partnering with local drivers and serving the community while upholding its commitment to safety and affordable pricing practices. InDrive has more than 175 million downloads and has been recognized as the second-most downloaded mobility app in the world. It will be competing with early adopters such as Bolt and Uber.

The firm says that the drivers on the platform will undergo background checks, including the verification of necessary documents such as licenses and permits, to ensure qualified and trustworthy individuals are signed up. Passengers will also have the ability to rate their rides and provide feedback on driver behaviour and service quality. The mobile app also enables passengers to share their trip details with friends or family members, allowing for real-time GPS tracking during travel times.
