Emirates, a UAE-based airline company, has announced plans to partner with Kenya Airways to facilitate access to new destinations on the two airline networks. This move is aimed at providing customers with increased travel options as well as providing a mechanism for passengers on both airlines to be able to use a single ticket while navigating the route.

With this move, Emirates customers can now access 28 destinations in the Kenyan Airways network. This is because the Kenyan airline network will act as a link to other destinations such as Rwanda, Burundi, the DRC, Sudan, and Zanzibar, among others.

In the same breath, Kenya Airways passengers travelling from Nairobi and Mombasa will now be able to use the Emirates’ network to connect through Dubai to 23 other destinations across West and South Asia, the Indian Ocean, and the Middle East, such as Singapore, Tokyo, Bangkok, Beirut, Hong Kong, and Jakarta, among others.

According to the chief commercial officer of Emirates, the move will be the first partnership with Kenya’s flag carrier. “Kenya is a strategic gateway in our Africa network, and this new interline agreement will enhance connectivity for Emirates customers and provide them with more travel choices across the continent. We look forward to deepening our relationship with Kenya Airways, offering greater network opportunities, and improving connections for both of our nations,” he said.

This partnership will help boost KQ’s revenue, considering that the company recently realized a loss of Kshs 36.26 billion as of December 2022, and also facilitate trade and integration between the two countries.
