Amidst the plethora of information available on the latest office interior trends and technology, it is easy to overlook the importance of tailoring your office space to meet your unique needs in order for it to be both genuine and practical. Simply because the office on the fifth floor boasts a water feature in the lobby does not necessarily mean that it aligns with your personal preferences and motivates you and your team while spending long hours there. Regardless of whether you prefer a campus-style environment, a hybrid office, a co-working space, or a smaller private office, here is some advice on some mistakes to avoid during construction.

Layouts based on functional use

Many businesses tend to overlook important details such as the number of employees, their movement within the space, high-traffic areas, positioning of amenities such as coffee stations and breakout rooms, and smaller areas for collaborative work, meetings, and focused tasks. It’s important to consider these factors in order to create an office space that is efficient and conducive to productivity.

A well-organized Reception Area

It is important to recognize that clients visiting your company will form an impression based on the appearance of your office reception area. While the reception should feel inviting and functional, experienced office interior designers suggest creating distinctive areas within the reception space, such as a prominent desk to approach and a unique focal point, such as a feature that showcases the company logo.

Proper Lighting Fixtures

Brightly lit spaces can sometimes cause discomfort, leading to headaches, fatigue, eye strain, and even anxiety for employees. It’s advisable to opt for design choices that provide ample natural daylight, as the amount and quality of light can impact the sleep cycle, focus, and productivity of individuals in the office. It is also essential to address any poorly lit areas and ensure even distribution of lighting, as a noticeable difference in light levels can cause eye strain, making it challenging to see and concentrate as the eyes constantly adjust to varying light levels.

Prioritize ergonomics over style

Incorporating trendy and stylish furniture into your office space is acceptable as long as it is done with careful consideration of color combinations and prioritizing employee comfort. It is advisable to select materials that are both comfortable and durable, considering that the office may undergo expansion or changes in the future.
