Investment, Trade, and Industry, CS Moses Kuria, has appointed June Chepkemei as the new acting MD of the Kenya Investment Authority (KENINVEST).
Chepkemei formerly served as the director of Marketing and Communications at the KonzaTechnopolis Development Authority (KOTDA)
She succeeds Olivia Rachier, who has been filling in for Dr. Moses Ikihara since his resignation from the organization after eight years on November 9, 2021.
Chepkemei will lead efforts to increase investments in Kenya from their present level of Ksh 61.5 billion to Ksh 1.2 trillion by the end of 2023.
She received recognition for successfully guiding team Kenya in a bid to host the 41st annual international conference of the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP), set for 2024.

Career Profile
Following a six-year career in the media industry, Chepkemei worked as a communications business partner for Safaricom LTD before joining KoTDA.
In 2021, she was appointed by the Cabinet Secretary for ICT, Innovation, and Youth Affairs, where she served on the Taskforce of the Kenya Media Policy Guidelines.
June spearheaded the Konza Innovation Ecosystem Initiative, which brings together numerous industry stakeholders to boost the commercialization of research, innovation, and development of new solutions and firms within Konza Technopolis.
She was also appointed as the Project Coordinator for the Kenya Advance Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), which is being established by the Ministry of ICT & Digital Economy in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MoE)
Education
She has a master’s in communications studies from Moi University, a bachelor’s in public relations and communications from Moi University, a postgraduate diploma in professional marketing from The Chartered Institute of Marketing of the UK, and an executive certificate in innovation from Stanford Center for Professional Development.

Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest) is a statutory body established in 2004 and currently operating through an Act of Parliament (Investment Promotion Act No. 6 of 2004) with the main objective of promoting investments in Kenya.
It is responsible for facilitating the implementation of new investment projects, providing After Care services for new and existing investments, as well as organizing investment promotion activities both locally and internationally.
