Kenya Rugby Sevens legend Collins Injera has retired from his professional rugby career.
In an emotional statement shared on his social media platforms, Injera said he was of no regret leaving the stage, as he has achieved everything he would have wished.
“Everything must come to an end sometime. I have always said that I will know it’s time because my body will tell me. And for the past few months, it has really spoken to me, so, finally, I have decided to listen to it,” he said.
“As hard as this is for me, after 17 years of literal blood, sweat and tears, it’s time to step away from this great game that has given me so much more than I could ever ask.”

Injera leaves the Kenyan rugby fraternity as one of the most decorated player of recent times, holding the glory of being the topmost Kenyan try-scorer.
In the 17-year-long journey that will see him inducted into the Fiji Hall of Fame, Injera might single out the 2016 World Sevens Series final against Fiji as one of his most memorable moments, where he was named Player of the Final after Kenya beat Fiji 30-7.
Injera has said that he will continue with humanitarian activities henceforth, saying, “For my next chapter, I will continue with humanitarian work…”
