As holiday demands surges, Kenya’s coastal destinations have entered one of their busiest festive seasons in recent years as hotels, villas, and beachfront resorts across Mombasa, Diani, Lamu, and Watamu report higher than usual advance bookings. The warm weather, vibrant holiday events, pristine beaches and increased flight availability have made these locations top picks for December travelers.

Many accommodations are already approaching full capacity, particularly between December 22 and January 3, traditionally the peak travel window for both local and international holidaymakers.

Why packages are running out

Travel analysts say the 2024/2025 festive period has seen a notable spike due to earlier holiday planning and the rising popularity of coastal wellness retreats, heritage tours, and curated experiences such as:

  • Sunset dhow cruises in Lamu

  • Marine park excursions in Watamu

  • Luxury beach villas in Diani

  • Historical tours in Old Town Mombasa

Combined with limited availability in high demand properties especially boutique hotels and private stays, travel packages are becoming scarce much faster than previous years.

A rare 5% discount still available

Amid the scarcity, one tour agency is offering a limited time 5% festive season discount on select coastal holiday packages. The offer applies to curated stays in Mombasa, Diani, Lamu and Watamu and includes a choice of mid-range and premium accommodations.

Travelers urged to book early

With availability tightening, securing  accommodation and flights as early as possible sets you up for better overall travel experience. The remaining holiday packages especially those with the rare 5% discount, are expected to sell out before mid December.
