The Government Delivery Unit (GDU) has moved to address “misleading and inaccurate” media reports regarding the purported resignation of Dr. Peter Mbae, formerly of the Government Delivery Services (GDS). In a press release on January 13, 2025, the GDU emphasized that Dr. Mbae’s tenure ended on July 11, 2024, following the dissolution of the Cabinet and restructuring of government portfolios.

“Dr. Peter Mbae ceased being an employee of the Government Delivery Services (GDS) on 11th of July 2024,” the statement read, clarifying that his departure coincided with a government realignment that transferred the GDS portfolio to the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Performance, and Delivery Management, Hon. Moses Kuria.

The GDU described recent reports of Dr. Mbae’s resignation as “misleading,” pointing out that his formal departure was communicated on July 24, 2024, by the State Department for Performance and Delivery Management.

Furthermore, the GDU affirmed that Dr. Mbae was fully compensated for his tenure. “All dues owed to Dr. Mbae were paid upon the conclusion of his service,” the statement noted, rejecting allegations of unfavorable working conditions or unresolved financial obligations.

The release also highlighted the operational continuity of the GDU, stating, “The Government Delivery Unit has continued to effectively and efficiently carry out its mandate without any disruption in its operations.” Mr. Lee Konyoe, OGW, has been serving as the acting head of the unit since July 12, 2024.

The GDU called on the public and stakeholders to disregard misleading claims, reaffirming the unit’s commitment to its objectives. “We urge all stakeholders and members of the public to discredit any misinformation regarding the Unit’s operations or leadership,” the statement concluded.
