Coca-Cola launches record KES 163 million giveaway in Kenya

Coca-Cola is making a splash in Kenya with the launch of its biggest ever consumer promotion called “Kachingching na Coke”, dangling a record KES 163 million in cash prizes to be won across the country over the next 13 weeks.

The campaign offers Kenyan consumers a chance at winning instant daily cash awards ranging from KES 50 to KES 10,000 simply by purchasing Coca-Cola beverage bottles and sending in the unique codes found under the crowns via SMS. But the real eye-catching prizes are the 13 weekly KES 1 million grand prizes up for grabs.

“At Coca-Cola, we have consistently strived to create magical experiences for our consumers,” said Monique Katana, Frontline Marketing Director at Coca-Cola Kenya, in a statement. “This year, again we are bringing the Coca-Cola magic by rewarding over 2 million Kenyans with a record-breaking KES 163 million in prizes.”

The promotion covers Coca-Cola’s entire beverage portfolio sold in returnable glass bottles, including marquee brands like Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, as well as Krest, Stoney and Schweppes.

It represents the latest push by the Atlanta-based drinks behemoth to drive consumer engagement and cement brand loyalty in the critical African market, where it has operated for over 75 years. Kenya is seen as a key growth territory given its burgeoning middle class and youthful population.

“For 138 years, Coca-Cola has lived by one purpose, to refresh the world and make a difference,” said Isabelle Kariuki-Rostom, Senior Marketing Director for Coca-Cola’s East and Central Africa franchise. “This campaign is our way of showing that we are here to support and uplift the Kenyan people.”
