Morgan Heritage mourns death of lead singer Peter Morgan

The Grammy award-winning Reggae band, Morgan Heritage, is grieving the sudden loss of their lead vocalist, Peter Anthony Morgan. Peter passed away on February 25, 2024, as confirmed by a statement released by the family.

In the heartfelt statement, the family expressed their profound sorrow, describing Peter as their beloved husband, father, son, brother, and the lead singer of Morgan Heritage.

“Jah comes and saves us from ourselves because love is the only way,” the statement read in part.

Amid their mourning, the family requested prayers and privacy, acknowledging the outpouring of love and support from around the world. They thanked everyone for their love and asked for continued prayers during this challenging period while also urging respect for their privacy as they navigate through the healing process.

On April 21, 2023, Morgan Heritage released their latest album, “The Homeland.” This album signifies a significant milestone for the group, marking their first release since the passing of Denroy Morgan in 2022 and heralding a new era of global expansion.

“The Homeland” features collaborations with artists from East Africa and beyond, including R&B sensation Otile Brown and Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo. The 21-track collection boasts an array of stars such as Shaggy, Beenie Man, Popcaan, Shatta Wale, Ice Queen Cleo, Youssou N’Dour, Mádé Kuti, Alpha Blondy, Busy Signal, Capleton, among others.

For the Morgan brothers, this album represents a journey of rebirth, rooted in a legacy that spans generations. It symbolizes their commitment to forging ahead while embracing diverse influences and extending their reach beyond the Caribbean to the African Continent and beyond.
