Government launches ‘finya computer itoe dollar’ training initiative

The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection has rolled out the ”Finya computer itoe dollar” initiative for Kenyans aged between 18 and 35.

The Ministry, announced that the training program will come in two different modules. The first one named ‘Basic Module’ will provide training in data entry, digital marketing, and virtual assistance while the second, named ‘Advance Module’ will offer skills and knowledge in ‘AI for Graphic Design’.

“The objective of the programme is to equip young people with the requisite knowledge skills and attitudes for digital/online work to enable them access decent work and earn an income from the Gig & Freelancing Economy,” said the ministry.

The four-day training is set to start on March 4 to March 8, 2024 and will run from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Applicants are required to be Kenyan citizens with proficient computer skills.

To register, interested candidates will use a link dedicated for the program (NATIONAL ONLINE WORK READINESS SKILLS TRAINING AND MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME (google.com).

This comes a few days after President William Ruto coined the phrase as he was addressing youth in Bungoma regarding opportunities in the digital sector.
