Safaricom has provided clarification regarding the issue of some customers not receiving messages from Safaricom or M-Pesa.
The telecommunication company has identified that this problem primarily affects users employing third-party messaging applications, particularly on Android devices.
The company has attributed the disruption to the tendency of many third-party SMS applications to spam and block messages. Consequently, Safaricom has advised affected customers to rectify this by adjusting settings within the third-party platforms.
According to Safaricom’s guidance, affected customers should take the following steps to resolve the issue: Firstly, they are advised to open their SMS app and inspect the Spam & Blocked folder. Within this folder, customers should locate a Safaricom or M-Pesa message and unblock it. Doing so will ensure that all subsequent messages are directed to the main inbox.
Alternatively, Android users have the option to utilize the default SMS application on their devices, as it does not engage in spamming practices. Furthermore, users can access their M-Pesa statements via their email addresses to verify their transactions on the platform.
