Former MP Amos Kimunya’s wife dies

Former Kipipiri Member of Parliament Amos Kimunya has on Tuesday announced the passing of his wife, Lucy Kimunya.

According to the ex-parliamentarian, Lucy succumbed to an illness while undergoing treatment at Nairobi Hospital.

The former MP refrained from providing additional details regarding the nature of her ailment and the duration of her hospitalization.

In a statement, Kimunya expressed deep sorrow and acknowledged the acceptance of God’s will, revealing that Lucy passed away at 3:00 am on Tuesday.

Amos Kimunya, who had previously held various positions in both Cabinet and Parliament under Presidents Mwai Kibaki and Uhuru Kenyatta, paid tribute to his late wife. He highlighted her significant role in both his personal and political life, emphasizing her active involvement in initiatives dedicated to supporting youth and women.

In a farewell message, Kimunya bid adieu to Lucy, stating, “Go well our dear Lucy, we will miss you dearly.” The former MP mentioned that details regarding her funeral arrangements would be communicated in the coming days.

Amos Kimunya’s political journey included serving as Minister of Lands in 2002, transitioning to the Finance docket in 2006, and later resigning from Cabinet in July 2008.

He was subsequently reappointed by President Mwai Kibaki to the Trade docket five months later. Under President Uhuru Kenyatta, Kimunya assumed the role of National Assembly Majority Leader, succeeding Aden Duale, who presently serves as the Cabinet Secretary of Defence. Kimunya attributed his successful career to the unwavering support he received from his late wife.
